Shaking, Eiro withdrew slowly. Her thighs loosened their grip on him and he slipped off the bed. Aegina watched him dress again, saddened for no real reason. He cast a glance back where she was lying and nodded his head. She smiled as warmly as she could before he turned and fled out the door. Rolling over, she closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep.
The next few days were torture for Aegina. Time moved slower than it ever had. The loneliness she"d felt before meeting Eiro returned threefold. It was all she could do not to cry in front of the rest of the village. One morning though, she had an epiphany.
If Tyre could leave this all behind, why shouldn"t she?
She packed her two other tunics, some bread, some cheese and some wine. After a brief chat with Phaeros she sold him her chickens and goat. The money she got was mere pocket change, but it was better than nothing.
Not even bothering to glance back at the tired town she was leaving behind, Aegina set out on the road for the city of Berora.
