    The light from the street lamps shone on the dark puddles on the damp pavement. A fine drizzle continued to fall, dampening Martin"s spectacles as he strode along the forbidding streets.     She ran from the house tears stinging her eyes, this was the last time he would hit her. Running her hand along the underside of the wheel well she pulled the hid-a-key from its holder and jumped in the front seat of the car.
